We have experience of working on small residential developments to large road and rail infrastructure schemes, providing clients with ecological surveys and impact assessments to support planning applications etc.
Founder and Principal
Graeme is an experienced Ecologist with over 20 years’ experience working for professional consultancies and within the civil engineering industry. Additionally, he has managed environmental as well as ecological works, on a number of major transport infrastructure schemes, involving the design and implementation of environmental management systems to ISO 14001:2004 standard. The environmental management systems incorporated the following disciplines, environmental impact assessments, waste management procedures, pollution prevention, noise management, protected species surveys and management plans.
Graeme has also designed and implemented a range of ecological investigations for a wide variety of projects including ministry of defence, road, rail, pipeline, housing and leisure projects etc.
Major railway infrastructure projects include the Trent Valley 4 Tracking scheme and North West Structures Renewal project, both for Network Rail. Whilst other related undertakings range from the A96 Inveramsay Bridge Improvement scheme to the Graven to Lerwick Pipeline & Power Station projects etc.
Graeme is an experienced Ecologist and a Scottish Natural Heritage licensed bat surveyor undertaking surveys and monitoring throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland. He also has extensive experience undertaking breeding bird surveys and monitoring, including red-throated diver surveys, both in Caithness and the Isle of Skye.
Graeme has worked both as an Independent Consultant and as a Project Environmental Manager for an International Civil Engineering company. In addition to the above responsibilities, he has considerable experience in liaising with the client’s environmental representatives, local authorities, the public and both statutory and non-statutory conservation organisations, in relation to protected species licences and required mitigation etc.
Heather brings a host of business-related skills to Insight Ecology, including in-depth Sales and Marketing experience, Finance, Report Writing and Administration.
Prior to co-establishing Insight Ecology, Heather worked for her previous employer for over 30 years.
Where Heather reported directly to the Sales Manager, her responsibilities included customer enquiries, organising procedures for price negotiation requests, dealing with specification changes and sending updated quotations.
Additionally, Heather’s other responsibilities within the Sales Department consisted of sales support to six sales representatives, and managing sales enquiries when they were out of the office.
In-addition to using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Salesforce Software during her daily work activities, Heather was also a company trainer for both types of software, having travelled to South Africa and the Netherlands in-order to train company employees. CRM software covers a broad set of applications designed to help the company manage many sales related business processes. Heather is also proficient in the use of the following additional software applications, Microsoft Windows and Systems Applications Products (SAP).
In-addition to her responsibilities within the Sales Department, Heather also worked for the Managing Director, Project Managers and Service Engineers on an as and when required basis. Composing letters to clients, checking service quotes and arranging sales handover meetings for new projects.
